Setting Up Devices for Class
Using Multiple Devices:
If you're following along in class, it’s helpful to have both a computer and another device, like a tablet or phone, available.
You can use your computer to follow the screen-shared content and your phone or tablet for Zoom participation (chat, reactions, etc.).
Recommended Setup for Zoom on Multiple Devices:
Join Zoom on your computer for the primary viewing and navigation.
Log into Zoom on your phone or tablet for easier access to chat and reactions. Make sure to mute the device you're not using for audio to avoid feedback.
Tip: Having Zoom open on two devices allows you to fully interact with the class while performing tasks on your computer.
Ensuring Your Devices Are Connected Properly:
Make sure both your phone and computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network for seamless operation.
Check the Wi-Fi settings on both devices by accessing your computer's bottom-right toolbar (PC) or top-right toolbar (Mac) to confirm you are on the correct network.
SIDE BOX: What to Do When Audio Feedback Happens in Zoom
Scenario: You hear echoing or feedback because Zoom is open on both your phone and computer.
Solution:
Mute the microphone on one of the devices (preferably the one you’re not using for audio).
Alternatively, leave the Zoom audio session on one device and close it on the other by selecting “Leave Computer Audio” or "Leave Meeting Audio."
